The Women's Handball Team of Porriño Receives a Visit from the Mayor
Nelson Santos animates this group of young women who will compete in the 2012/13 season in the Division of Honor of the Autonomous League.
Porriño, July 27, 2013.- Last season, the members of the women's cadet handball team of Porriño managed to participate, for the first time, in the qualifying sector for the Spanish Championship. This year, this and many other challenges are set by the club. The young women have already started training at the municipal sports hall, and the mayor of Porriño, Nelson Santos, attended one of the morning sessions. He was with the whole group, led by coaches Abel Estévez, Ismael Martínez, and Gerardo Carrera, chatting and exchanging impressions while encouraging them for the upcoming season.
The cadet team will compete this 2012/13 season in the Division of Honor of the Autonomous League, in which they were runners-up last year, finishing second in the table.

With 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, this woman from Porriño worked collecting coal from the train tracks, carrying water for a soda factory, and cleaning private houses, while finding time for her greatest passion: cinema. María claims to have never been ill, is self-sufficient, and until a few months ago, lived alone on the third floor of a building without an elevator.
The local government received the birthday woman and her descendants at the Town Hall in recognition and admiration of her life. The family will celebrate it tomorrow with a meal.
Nelson Santos Attends the First Mass Celebrated by Manuel González Domínguez from Porriño
The mayor of Porriño traveled to Palencia with a group of neighbors to attend the first mass celebrated by this 23-year-old, who was ordained a priest on June 31st.
The Church of Santa María de Porriño will host a mass celebrated by this priest tomorrow, Friday, at 8:30 p.m.
Porriño, July 25, 2013.- The mayor of Porriño, Nelson Santos, traveled with a group of 15 residents of Porriño to Palencia on July 6th to attend the first mass celebrated by Manuel González Domínguez. This 23-year-old, with a mother from the town of Louro and a father from Palencia, was ordained a priest in the Toledo Cathedral on June 31st.
Now he is visiting Porriño and will take the opportunity to celebrate a mass in his hometown. It will take place tomorrow, Friday, July 26th, at the Church of Santa María at 8:30 p.m.
